Intro Into Herbalism

This class will serve as a basic introduction to help you learn ways to use common plants that grow around you, and how to make the simplest and most-used medicines with them. Equipping you to make remedies for yourself and your family, and, hopefully, ignite a passion for herbalism! Herbs can be used effectively for an array of health issues that arise in everyday life: simple first-aid situations, the bumps, and bruises of life, headaches, colds, fevers, flu, coughs, aches, pains, and more. Join clinical herbalist, Angie Pietraszewski to learn how to begin using herbs for you and your family.

Making Infused Oils & Salves
Make & Take Class

Join clinical herbalist, Angie Pietraszewski, in this hands-on class and make an herbal infused oil and salve. Herbal infused oils and salves are healing and nourishing topical applications. They can be used in a myriad of ways—luxurious massage oils, first aid balms, pain relieving ointments and more! In this in person class, participants will learn how to extract the therapeutic properties of herbs by infusing them into oil. We will then make a salve, which is a combination of oils and beeswax. In addition, we will cover the therapeutic properties of the ingredients that make up oils and salves, as well as various recipes.

Making Tinctures
Make & Take Class
Thursday, April 13th

Take your herbal medicine making to the next level! Join clinical herbalist Angie Pietraszewski in this hands-on class and learn how to make your own tinctures. Tinctures are liquid extracts made with alcohol and water to extract the medicinal properties of herbs. They are a convenient and effective way of taking herbal medicine. In this informative class, participants will make a dried plant tincture to take home. Angie will also discuss and demonstrate other methods to make fresh and dried plant tinctures. You will leave this class with all the information you need to make your own tinctures! Participants will go home with handouts, a tincture they started in class, and materials to strain and store strain and store tincture.

Spring Herb Walk
Saturday, May 13th
10 am - 1 pm
Join us for a very special seasonal plant walk & in-depth discussion of some traditional wild medicinals. Herbalist Angie Pietraszewski will be leading participants around the lawn, fields, and woods surrounding the Lavender & Honey Farm to explore the medicinal virtues, identification, and preparation of many of the common "weeds" and wildflowers we pass by every day.
Angie will also go over how to incorporate what you learn into usable skills with which to maintain and restore health. From April into May when sleeping flora begin to burst from the ground, possible plant studies: ​dandelion, violet, cleavers, plantain, chamomile, comfrey, mullein, and more.

Summer Herb Walks

June 10th, July 15th, & August 12th

Join us for a very special seasonal plant walk & in-depth discussion of some traditional wild medicinals. Herbalist Angie Pietraszewski will be leading participants around the Lavender & Honey Farm in Manitou Beach to explore the medicinal virtues, identification, and preparation of many of the common "weeds" and wildflowers we pass by every day.
Angie will also go over how to incorporate what you learn into usable skills with which to maintain and restore health. The summer sun draws forth the medicinal virtues of many plants that grow and blossom in gardens, fields, and thickets.​ Possible Plant Studies: Yarrow, Mullein, Bee Balm, Chicory, St. John's Wort, Nettle, Motherwort, Plantain.

Fall Herb Walks

9 am to 12 pm
Join us for a very special seasonal plant walk & in-depth discussion of some traditional wild medicinals of Michigan. Herbalist Angie Pietraszewski will lead participants around the Lavender & Honey Farm in Manitou Beach to explore the medicinal virtues, identification, and preparation of many of the common "weeds" and plants we pass by every day.
Angie will also go over how to incorporate what you learn into usable skills to maintain and restore health. As fall prepares us for winter, so does the medicine found in the natural world. Possible Plant Studies: Burdock, Yellow Dock, Goldenrod, Mullein, Comfrey, Sage, and Pine.
