Do you have a brick & mortar store? We have a small shop on our property at Lavender & Honey. This is where we also farm our land with herbs, tend to the herbs growing in our woods, and make our products. We do allow visitors to stop by and visit our property and shop but ask that you do so by appointment. We are not always here or available. We may be shipping out orders, tending to the gardens, harvesting in the woods or making product in the kitchen. We would be super sad if you came all the way out to visit and we missed you.

Are L&H products organic?Yes and no. Lavender & Honey prides itself in using certified organic, organic or sustainably sourced wildcrafted ingredients. All the ingredients we use are organically grown, but like us, not every product we use has gone through the certification process required by the USDA to have the organic label. Let us explain further: The definition of organic is food or other agricultural products that farming methods have produced or involving production without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or other artificial agents and sold to the consumer without adding unnatural preservatives, additives, coloring or synthetic agents. Organic farming strives to cycle resources, promote ecological balance, and conserve biodiversity. The definition of certified organic is food or other agricultural products that have gone through the certification process and meets the USDA’s organic standards. In the United States, it is required for producers to obtain special certification to label or market food and end products as organic. Wildcrafting, also known as foraging is the practice of harvesting plants from their natural or wild habitat for food or medicinal purposes. This is considered the “original” organic because commercial farming methods aren’t used, and the plants are grown in their natural state. Lavender & Honey is more concerned with how the companies we obtain our ingredients from are farming or wildcrafting, then if their crop has the certified organic label. To us, a non-certified farmer who uses organic practices, along with ethical and responsible harvesting methods produce the same quality, and in some cases better, ingredients as the certified, large-scale organic farmer. We don't believe the organic certification process is worth the significant price increase it would cause on our products. Instead, we choose every ingredient specifically and consciously, taking into account aspects beyond just being certified organic. Our commitment is providing affordable bath & body and holistic healing products created with pure, safe ingredients as nature intended.

Why did my solid product turn liquid? All of our products are made with natural ingredients and work best when kept at room temperature. Body butters and any coconut oil based products may liquify in warm temperatures, but don’t worry it won’t alter the quality. If you prefer your product more solid, pop it in the fridge for a bit.
-
Why did my liquid product turn solid?Products may also solidify or get chunky in lower temperatures. No worries! If you prefer your product on the softer side, run the bottle or jar under warm water for a minute or so to soften, then stir and use as normal.

I have acne-prone/oily skin. Can I use L&H products on my face and body?Contrary to popular belief, adding natural oils to a skincare routine can actually help to balance your skin and reduce the appearance of acne. Conventional oil-free acne solutions often use harsh drying chemicals that dehydrate, and because of this, the skin increases its sebum production in an attempt to balance and restore hydration. Your natural oils can’t properly secrete when skin is dehydrated, causing dirt and impurities get stuck in pores. Coconut oil and other natural oils effectively penetrate the skin to dissolve hardened sebum, tighten pores, and keep your skin healthy, balanced, and clean. Please check with your dermatologist before replacing any medications with L&H products.
-
Do L&H products contain fragrances?L&H does not add synthetic or unnatural fragrances. All products are made from pure ingredients left in their most natural state possible. Any scent added to a product is from essential oils, herbs, or oil infused with herbs.

What is the shelf life of L&H products? Our products are always handcrafted in small batches to ensure freshness and consistency with safe and natural ingredients and never compromised with unnatural preservatives. As such, each has a shelf life of approximately 1 year. Although there are natural preservatives within the chemical structure of natural ingredients, they are nowhere near as potent as the synthetic preservatives used in commercial products to prolong shelf-life and are therefore able to sit on the shelves of stores for many years. Since we use no preservatives or chemical stabilizers, the more important question is, "how long will the product last once it has been opened? Once opened, skin care products become exposed to dirt and microorganisms (bacteria, yeasts, and molds) that are found in the air and on the skin. As soon as you open and begin to use any product, simply the way in which you use it will affect its lifespan. There are many factors that can affect the lifespan of a product. If a product is discolored, has an unpleasant smell or looks odd, the product should not be used and should be discarded. Each time you place your warm fingers into a tin or jar, you melt some of the butter which can change the consistency of the product. Fingers also introduce bacteria and other contaminants into the product. If a product has not been stored properly, for example, if the lid has been left off for long periods of time, the product may ‘go off’ before the period after opening has passed. As scented products age, some of the natural essential oil scent may be lost. Pure essential oils just do not have the staying power of synthetic fragrance oils. Over time, natural colors may also fade.
